Tandaan natin na noong panahon ng pandemya, ang katumbas ng bawat oras noon ay buhay ng bawat Pilipino! Kaya nagpapasalamat ako sa dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa kanyang political will at decisiveness to do what was right, what was legal, and what was needed to save lives.
Tinutukan talaga ni dating Pangulong Duterte ang kapakanan ng mga ordinaryong Pilipino at ginawa niya ang dapat upang makapagligtas ng buhay — mula sa mga polisiyang kinakailangang ipatupad, ang mabilis na aksyon ng mga ahensya, hanggang sa mga ayuda na dapat matanggap ng bawat Pilipinong nangangailangan ay kanyang ginawang prayoridad.
I also thank my fellow legislators of the 18th Congress for heeding the call of our fellow Filipinos during those extraordinary times. That is why we passed Republic Act No. 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, in order to give the government the necessary power, flexibility and resources to overcome the unprecedented challenge posed by the pandemic at that time.
Our collective action then, as one government, was a testament to the true spirit of bayanihan. We did what we could to save lives and we learned a lot from that experience in order to move forward as a stronger and more resilient nation.
Let us not allow politics to ruin the things we’ve worked hard for to save our country and our people. Huwag naman sana haluan ng pulitika o batuhan ng putik ang mga pinaghirapan ng gobyerno noon para iligtas ang buhay ng kapwa nating Pilipino.
