Statement of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP)

Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) stand in full support of our chairman, former President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s condemnation of the recent use of disproportionate and needless force by police in serving the warrant of arrest of Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy. Seeing such an abuse of authority is quite troubling, particularly in places of worship and education.
This incident raises serious concerns about the current administration’s approach to justice and the protection of constitutional rights. Many of us may relate to the questions raised by former President Duterte: How can this administration guarantee the protection of our fundamental rights when such flagrant abuses are taking place?
For justice to be carried out impartially and honestly, we must hold our leaders and law enforcement officials accountable and oblige them to exercise restraint. Our constitutional rights must be upheld at all costs, and any acts that do so need to be taken very seriously and quickly.
Let us continue to advocate for the rule of law and the protection of every individual’s right in our beloved country.
