Above video is an attempt of my son, Byron (Banat By in the vlogging world), to express in a simple, plain and down-to-earth the very lawyerly and scholarly language with which Nicholas Kaufman, a British born and educated Chief Counsel of our former president Rodrigo Duterte, couched his opening statement in the confirmation of charges hearing of FPRRD in the ICC yesterday, February 23. Byron’s rehashing of Atty. Kaufman academical and high-level language is more than layman’s fashion and fancy; he sufuses it with emotions and sensation peculiar and titillating to the common man and the uneducated — to the so-called great unwashed of our country. It takes some gifts to execute this way of reaching out to the less fortunate and less educated masses of our countrymen, a communication mode the scholarly and intellectual find difficult to adapt or adjust to, if not scornful. The latter are simply hard-wired to a language borne of a rigid and sustained academic training that normally cradles a florid language style. As proof of Banat By’s effective communication method, lawyers (and other intellectuals) vlogs’ subscribers and viewers sharply pale in comparison with Banat By’s more than 1.3 million subscribers and multi million viewers on the very same content of law, having captured the rapt attention of the sector that constitutes the populace majority.
Byron’ vlog above may not be appealing to the intellectuals and academicians of our society, nonetheless it maintains an outstanding redeeming value for them. It zeroes in on the highly material and relevant legal and factual points that distill the travesty of justice perpetuated by our sovereign country having committed its former strong president to the jail of a foreign sovereign, sending our people severely and sharply divided.
Further, the above vlog projects to the whole world in searing shame and scandal that our time-honored democratic rule of law is clearly supplanted by our politicians in evil confederacy to foist on the Filipino people a novelty — the bend-the-law ideology!
